เรามาฟังเพลง The wheels on the bus โดย Pete the Cat กันก่อนนะคะ แล้วเราค่อยมาเรียนรู้ไวยากรณ์ง่าย ๆ จากเพลงนี้กัน

เพลงนี้เป็นเพลงสำหรับเด็ก ๆ วัยเตรียมอนุบาล (Nursery Rhyme) แต่ผู้ใหญ่ก็ร้องได้นะคะ เพลงน่ารัก มิวสิคก็น่าเอ็นดู และที่สำคัญยังสอนเราในเรื่องของการใช้ Preposition “ON” ได้เป็นอย่างดี

เราเรียนกันมาตั้งแต่เด็กว่า On แปลว่า บน แต่บนสำหรับฝรั่ง บางครั้งก็ไม่ใช่บนแบบไทย ๆ (แล้วก็ไม่ใช่ บนบาน ขอหวยแบบไทย ๆ ด้วยนะจ๊ะ)

เพลงนี้สอนให้เรารู้ว่าจะใช้ on กับอะไรได้บ้าง

on the bus อยู่บนรถบัสหรือรถเมล์ในกรุงเทพฯก็ได้ค่ะ เวลาเราจะบอกเพื่อนว่า “ฉันอยู่บนรถ” ก็พูดว่า

I’m on the bus.

แต่อย่าได้ใช้สับสนกับการนั่งใน “รถยนต์” นะคะ เพราะกับการนั่ง “ใน” เราจะใช้ว่า in the care แต่สำหรับการนั่งบนรถบัสต้องใช้ On (บน) จ้ะ เมื่อจะบอกว่า ฉันนั่งอยู่บนรถเมล์แต่เขานั่งอยู่ในรถยนต์ ก็พูดได้ว่า

I’m on the bus but she’s in the car.

สำหรับพาหนะที่ใช้ On จะเป็นพาหนะขนาดใหญ่ ที่ผู้โดยสารต้องเดินขึ้นไป เช่น เครื่องบิน, เรือ, หรือ รถไฟ ค่ะ

ในเพลงนี้มีใครที่อยู่บนรถบ้างคะ

The wheels on the bus อ้าว! ล้อรถ (wheel) อยู่นอกรถก็ยังถือว่าอยู่บนรถเลยนะเนี่ย พวกเราฟังแล้วอาจจะสับสนวิ่งไปหาล้อบนรถกันใหญ่ คราวนี้รู้แล้ว ก็จะได้เข้าใจว่า เขาหมายถึงล้อที่หมุน ๆ อยู่นั่นแหละค่ะ The wheels on the bus go round and round. = ล้อรถบัสกำลังหมุนวนไปเรื่อย ๆ

แล้วมีใครอีกคะที่อยู่บนรถ

windows (หน้าต่างหลายบาน), cats (แมวหลายตัว), driver (คนขับคนเดียว), wipers (ที่ปัดน้ำฝนหลายอัน), horn (แตรรถ 1 อัน), babies (เด็กทารกหลายคน), mommies (คุณแม่หลายคน) are on the bus กันทั้งนั้น แหม๋ รถบัสก็ออกจะคันใหญ่นะคะ ก็เลยบรรทุกได้ทั้งเหมียว ๆ ทั้ง mommies (แม่ เหมือนกับคำว่า mother ค่ะ แต่เป็นคำภาษาปากใช้เรียกแม่แบบเป็นกันเอง) และลูกอ่อน แต่คนขับรถแล้วก็แตรรถ มีแค่อย่างละ 1 ก้พอนะคะ มีหลายคนหรือหลายอันเนี่ย รถอาจจะไม่สามารถ goes through the town (วิ่งไปทั่วเมือง) ได้ ท่าทางบนรถจะวุ่นวายน่าดูเลยนะคะ
